Description
This is another of my Chicago Urban photo-manipulation photo series i took during my August 2011 vacation there. This is a manip of a photo I took of a raised ironworks bridge structure over the Chicago River. I saw it while I was taking the Downtown Architecture Boat tour - strongly recommend.
The original photo was neat looking but had a hoe-hum sky background (just blue sky and a distant building. I wanted to really artistically accent the harsh urban rusted look. To be honest the bridge was not rusty at all - it was actually in good shape.
First i needed to remove the blue sky. Took a while. Then I started playing with different textures. I found a cool texture in DA that made the intense dark sky pop as well as the bridge look grainy and old. Blended it with 3 filtered layers of the bridge structure too.
I had it perfect to me and then I looked at the artist of the texture i was using. She didnt have friendly permissions to use it. So I went back to my #1 trusted and amazing Texture Artist PAREEERICA from Flickr and looked for a rust texture from her library. I found her FEATHERED GOLD. It was a perfect replacement.
Welcome to RUSTY BRDIGES!
